Richard B. Cheney, an accomplished businessman and public servant, is vice president. Cheney is an established figure within Washington's political world. George W. Bush will be the next president the U.S. will be Cheney's fourth. Bush picked Cheney as his vice presidential running mate in July 2000 citing Cheney's wisdom judgment and his experience. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff to the president, was an elected member of Congress as well as secretary of defense. It is clear that he's uncompromising, who has the respect of both Republicans as well as Democrats. Cheney has stated that he regards his work in of the Bush administration as a frank and discreet adviser. In accepting the Republican vice presidential nomination Cheney stated that he looks at serving alongside an administration that will strive for the accomplishment of goals through working across partisan lines and collaborating with his political foes on a good basis and with a shared goals. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941 the son of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. In 1941, when Richard Bruce Cheney was 13 years old, he and his family left Lincoln Nebraska and moved to Casper Wyoming and his father worked for his position as the head of U.S. Department of Agriculture's regional conservation districts.
